The Silver Spring Camera Club is very pleased to announce Irene Sacilotto, a professional wildlife photographer and environmental scientist, as our opening season speaker. For over 35 years, Irene has shared her photographic experiences and love of nature with thousands of individuals through more than 300 photo classes, workshops, lectures and tours in the U.S. and abroad. Her passion for wildlife has taken her to Kenya, Iceland, Newfoundland, the Falkland Islands, Patagonia and the Brazilian Pantanal. In the U.S., her workshops include Bosque Del Apache, the South Dakota Badlands, Chincoteague NWR and Tangier Island.  Irene has also been a program sponsor for zoos, nature centers, camera clubs and conservation organizations such as the National Wildlife Federation and the Assateague Island Alliance. For many years, Irene has taught photography classes at Johns Hopkins University and other educational institutions.  Her work has been published in National Wildlife Federation, National History Society, Audubon and Sierra Club magazines. She is also the author of the book, “Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, an Ecological Treasure.”

Tonight’s presentation is based on her more than 35 years’ experience photographing wildlife and covers the requirements, strategies, techniques and equipment required to capture engaging animal images. Irene will discuss topics on lighting and composition, plus locating, attracting and approaching wildlife.  The program is interwoven with some entertaining stories behind some of the images. The presentation also contains a lot of recent material including images from COVID-19 confinement.  To learn more about Irene and her workshops, and to view her images, please visit www.ospreyphoto.com; Instagram: isacilotto.
