Eddie Kang

Silver Spring Camera Club is pleased to kick off our new season with professional photographer, Eddie Kang, as our guest speaker.

Eddie immigrated to the US from Taiwan in 1972 and currently resides in Maryland. He is a Certified Professional Photographer through the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), and holds a Master of Photography through PPA.  Eddie is also a Maryland PPA Fellow Photographer and has served as the past President of the Professional Photographers Society of Greater Washington from 2017-2018.

Eddie states, “Being a Certified Professional Photographer through PPA doesn’t mean you will like every single one of my images. However, it does mean I will shoot all my works according to the highest standard that PPA likes all the professionals to apply. I like to shoot my images on the dark side.  Because, I know this is the best way to show everyone’s bright side.  As President Lincoln once said, ‘I am not a bad looking person.  It is you who are looking at me from the wrong position.’”

Tonight’s presentation will focus on several areas that will help demystify the judging process in order to gain insight on how you can improve your skills as a photographer. Some of the topics discussed will be:

  • How do I choose which images to submit and how to process them to a competition quality?
  • What are the judges looking for in a competition?
  • Critical mistakes that can ruin a potentially great image in a competition.
