October’s competition was Nature for projected and print images. Michael Oberman was our judge.
October was the second month with our new Intermediate level. Awards are generally given for first, second, and third place, with the number of honorable mentions (HM) dependent on the total number of entries in the respective Advanced, Intermediate, and Novice levels. In October, there was only one Print competition combining the levels.

As I went beyond the orchids, I found the cacti collection. Shot with my 60mm Macro lens in low natural light, the image was very dark. To focus on this small group of plants, I used a variety of edits in Lightroom to obscure the background, bring up the dark areas of the plant and enhance details of the spines. A few final refinements were done in Photoshop.")
