Board Meeting Minutes April 25, 2024
Silver Spring Camera Club Board Meeting 

Location: Zoom Meeting
Start Time: 7:36PM, adjourned 9:25 PM. 

Board Members in Attendance: Catherine Honigsberg, Dennis Freeman, Lisa Auerbach, Sherm Edwards, Frank Gallagher, Bob Catlett, Michael Koren, Norm Bernache, Kay Carkuff, Will Rabinovich, Pete Morton and Tanya Riseman

Not in Attendance: Andrew Rein, Phil Boyer, Bruce Schaefer, Miriam Struck, Marc Auerbach 

Guests: David Blass

Secretary: Catherine read February minutes 

Treasurer: Bruce sent in the report. 84 members of which 15 are new compared to 80 and 11 last year at this time. We have projected income of $4,391 and expenses of $4,074 with a profit of $317 with a projected expense of $200 for the year-end event.

Report on the Audit: Frank and Dennis presented the audit report. There were no detected deviations and transaction matched the bank statements. A recommendation was made to annotate the speaker and judge’s fees in the future and to return double paid memberships. 

Cable Release: 

Sherm collected 37 responses from the membership survey. The results will be published in the CR. 

Responses were favorable to adding an intermediate competition category and having more non-competitive critique events.  

Tanya brought up the idea of not having the Handbook be a big pdf that duplicates much of what is on the website. Michael mentioned that there is clean up need on both. 

Frank Gallagher presented a Social Media Proposal. We will be reviewing this opportunity to draw in new members.

Competition:  

Karen Finkelman will be stepping down from the Co-chair position. She will continue to assist Kay on competition nights when she is in town.

Topics for next year’s competitions were discussed and we will send out a survey to gather topics from the membership for the Board to vote on. 

The slate for next year’s officers was compiled to be printed in the Cable Release for voting. 

Action Items: 

Year End Event:

Catherine will inventory the certificates and print the certificates and programs. Catherine will also bring easels, flipcharts, and gaffer tape to the event. 

A trip was made to the church to inventory items and create a list of supplies to purchase.

We have our projectionist, Jim Riley, and David Terao will host the judging at his home. We have sent out the call for entries.
