Overview: Come visit a unique historical and artistic site in nearby old-town Alexandria. This former naval torpedo factory is now an art center, filled with interesting sights. We are free to take pictures in the main hall, and we can ask permission at the individual galleries. In between shooting you could shop at the many galleries or storefronts (hey, the holiday season is approaching). The back area abuts to the Potomac River so there are water and boating options to photograph too. I think we could spend an hour or so there and then head out for lunch nearby. Did I mention street parking is free on Sunday?
Info from Wikipedia: The Torpedo Factory Art Center is home to the largest number of publicly accessible working artist studios in the U.S. Each year, more than a half-million national and international visitors meet and interact with the community of artists. It houses more than 82 artists’ studios, 7 galleries and two workshops, with some 165 professional visual artists who produce a diversity of artwork, ranging from painting, ceramics, photography, jewelry, stained glass, fiber, printmaking, and sculpture.
