Many months ago, a panel of judges juried Doug in for an intriguing multi-media art show at Glenview Mansion in Rockville. With an open call to artists from Virginia, DC, and Maryland, the final selection for the exhibit features printmaking, art installations, mixed media – and Doug as the only photographer. The focus of the show is on abstracts.
Doug brings to this exhibit his eye-dazzling “transformations,” whose starting point is always a photograph. The image can be as simple as a sunset sky or a cloud formation or as complex as a skyscraper or landscape seen from a hot air balloon. Working mostly in Lightroom, Doug then morphs the photographs into complex abstract patterns and forms, with an extraordinary play of color. From one photograph, he can create a limitless number of dissimilar variations.
Come see Doug’s exhibit of unexpected transformations, and join him for the artists’ reception!
