Board Votes
The Board voted to accept a proposed Competition Rule Change:
“The Board of Directors may assign not more than three of the monthly competitions to a defined subject and/or technique. The October competition is always on the topic of Nature. The May competition is always devoted exclusively to black and white / monochrome images in both the print and projected categories. All other competitions are open to all subject areas and photographic techniques (i.e., open topic). Assigned topic competitions for the following club year are determined at a Board Meeting in April and announced in the May Cable Release.”
The Board approved the following new chair positions:
- Membership – Renee Schaefer
- Competition – Larry Gold
- Field Trips – Phil Boyer and Andrew Rein (co-chairs)
- Education – Michael Koren
- Open Forum – Dave Powell
- PSA – Loretta Argrett
- Historian – Norm Bernache
- Cable Release Editor – Dennis Freeman
- Web Master – Dan Sisken
- Workshop – Gene Luttenburg
Coco Simon resigned her position as Program Chair, and the position is open. While the position remains open Stephanie Banks and Renee Schaefer will assume the responsibilities.
The Board voted to purchase a BenQ HT2050 projector after discussing the features, performance, and cost assisted with materials collected on a range of models by Andrew Rein.
Miscellaneous Summer Tasks:
A finance committee meeting to complete the audit and budget for next year will be scheduled before September.
A Cable Release migration meeting will be scheduled by a committee that includes the prior and current CR editor.
A small committee will arrange moving supplies from the previous church to the new church.
Establish hyperlinks for the Member Handbook, update the marketing flyer, reach out to Meet Up members to convert to members, develop more hands on programs for Workshop/Education/Open Forum, archiving older editions of the Cable Release on the website, schedule field trips, judges, and speakers are some of the activities to complete this summer.
Breakout Sessions:
The new chair and board members met with the previous chair and board members in groups to discuss ideas for the transitions and the year ahead.
Review of Year End Ceremony:
The venue was good. We should designate someone to take pictures of the event, project the winning images, and provide some tables for eating.
Discuss Income Opportunities:
Some ideas that came up were raffles and having a swap meet with camera equipment.
