  • 10/16 Program: Photography Part One: Photographers of the Civil War – Photographic historian Barry Larkin will speak about photography and photographers during the Civil War and share images and stories of photography during the 1860’s.
  • 10/23 Program: Civil War Part Two: Wet Plate Collodion “Wood. Brass, and Cyanide.” Finish up your understanding of what being a photographer in the mid and late 19th century was like with a discussion on the processes, equipment and chemistry during the war and ending with a live Tintype photography demonstration from start to finish by John Milleker Jr.

Dave Mullen and Michael Koren have been involved with photography for many years, as members of various local camera clubs, teachers at Montgomery College and other venues, and enthusiastic learners and explorers. They have led previous Worldwide Photo Walks in DC, Baltimore, and Cape Cod.

  • 10/5: Worldwide Photowalk – Capitol Hill & Eastern Market. IMPORTANT!! Please register for the walk on the Worldwide Photowalk website (worldwidephotowalk.com/walk/capitol-hill-and-eastern-market, Search: Washington DC, choose Capitol Hill and Eastern Market ) – after finishing our coffee and shooting for a half hour at Union Station, we’ll take a leisurely stroll up Capitol Hill to photograph the outside of the Capitol and outside/inside the Library of Congress (no tripods allowed). Any camera is welcome! Really, ANY CAMERA. Space is limited! We’ll then cruise over to Eastern Market to photograph the crowded hall and have lunch at Market Lunch (though you can grab food anywhere in the Market). Bring cash for lunch as many places don’t take credit cards.
  • 10/26: PhotoPlus Expo & Photo Walk – New York City, Show will be at Jacob Javits Center from Oct. 24 through Oct. 26 (http://www.photoplusexpo.com) – Michael will lead street photography walk.  Start at the north end of the High Line near Javits Center, on 34th St. at 12:30pm. to walk 1.5 miles to Chelsea Market for lunch.
  • 11/3: Nature Visions – The Basics of Mobile Phone Photography, Michael will be presenting at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas, Va., discussing the advantages and limitations of phone cameras, and how to turn them to creative advantage.  He will also share very popular apps to make images pop or add a creative twist.
