Committee Chair Reports:
Treasurer – Bruce Schaefer presented an updated budget as of April 23, 2019. The year-end balance is now projecting a $108 surplus. That is an improvement of $125 compared with last month’s forecast and is explained by $75 higher than expected revenue from member dues in April and $50 less expenses for food and supplies in December. The budget includes 88 members, out of which 21 are new members, which has not changed since February/March.
The George DeBuchanne Community Service Fund has a balance of $583, which is the same as in February/March.
Vice President – Tanya Riseman discussed her updated plans for the organization of this Year-End Celebration on June 13. She has secured some great raffle prizes, for example a 1.5-hour portfolio review by Pulitzer prizewinning photographer Essdras M. Suarez. The current Nature Award Plaque is missing. The Board voted in favor of replacing it with a high-quality paper Certificate. Some board members promised to arrive early and help with decorations and preparations. Renee and Bruce Schaefer will bring their collection of antique cameras to exhibit at the party.
Programming – No new information.
Cable Release – Dennis Freeman has a few more items to complete before he will post the Cable Release, likely in a few days.
Field Trips – Phil Boyer reminded us that only one more field trip is planned for this club year.
Website, Meetup, Facebook, Twitter – No reports.
Nominations and Elections Committee – Larry Gold and Bruce Schaefer presented the Slate of candidates at the Speaker meeting in April. Members still can nominate. Elections will take place during the Speaker’s Night meeting in May, given that there are enough members present to fulfill the club’s defined quorum. That is, at least 30 members (one-third of the total membership in good standing) and two members of the Executive Council. If that quorum is not fulfilled, elections will take place at the Year-End Event if there is a quorum.
Competition – Pete Morton presented the PSA recommendations for digital submissions, which are:
- maximum file size of about 1000KB
- short edge approximately 1080 pixels
- long edge approximately 1920 pixels
Pete will verify the projector’s specifications.
Catherine Honigsberg collected and presented about 40 topics for next club year’s Competition Nights for the board to vote on. The three winning topics were “Cityscapes”, “Reflections”, and “Shadows.” In addition, the fixed competition topics of “Nature,” “Monochromatic,” and “Open” will run as usual throughout next club year.
Membership – With the aim of giving incentives for new members to join the club, Marc Auerbach presented a proposal to change membership rates for new members that join after March 1. The proposed change was published in the May 2019 Cable Release.
PSA – Pete Morton informed us a one-year membership will be included as one of the door prizes at the YE Celebration.
Communication Committee – No update.
