Carol Walsh and I will be having a joint exhibit April 14 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Sewall Photography Studio, 5619 Oak Place, Bethesda, Maryland, 20817.
Although Carol and I have each done tons of traditional photography, this exhibit is anything but traditional. Carol and I have been working on creative photography for years, and started collaborating on the creative process a couple of years ago. Still, our results are very different. I think her work is extraordinary.
Carol is hanging 10 Mythical Fantasies photographs, and there will be more in the studio racks. She says:
“I believe that creativity is a result of inhaling our experiences and exhaling our responses to those experiences. Thus, I use my creative process as a way to dive deeply into my inner self, and translate what I discover into a visual reality. Ultimately, my Mythical Fantasies tell stories from my feminine perspective, based on personal memories, emotions, dreams, and fantasies.
“In order to maintain visual cohesiveness I choose nature’s imagery that emotionally speaks to me, such as water, beach, clouds, reflections, and birds, and that comes from the same geographic area.
“It is my desire that my visual stories will invoke your personal experiences, enabling us to connect.”
Here’s a great example, probably my favorite of all Carol’s work. Absolutely amazing. You can see more of her work at: ckwalsh.com/mythical-fantasies
I am hanging 9 new Mysterra photographs; these and 37 photos in racks comprise my entire Mysterra collection to date. (I don’t know if or when I will ever stop.)
If you are familiar with Mysterra, you will see that these 9 new photos include more fantasy and whimsy. If you are not familiar, please see the Mysterra Gallery and Artist’s Statement on my website, at: roysewallphotography.com/Photographs/Mysterra
