Thursday May 17, Program 19, Body of Work Review – Lynn Silverman. Members of BCC will submit portfolios of their photographic work to Lynn Silverman for assessment and feedback in advance of the meeting. During the meeting, Lynn will evaluate the images and give feedback.

“Compelling Composition: Creating Visual Pathways”
There is nothing more important than clean, direct, compelling composition. Through numerous image examples, various compositional techniques will be illustrated and discussed. From the basics of composition to more creative ideas, Tony’s presentation is intended to fine tune the vision and jump start the creativity of the attendees. Whether you are just starting out, or are a seasoned pro, this is a program not to be missed!

Creative Exposure Baltimore
May 1: This month’s guest speaker is Lloyd Fox.

Lloyd Fox has been a staff photographer for The Baltimore Sun since 1990. Some of the interesting sports assignments He has covered over the years have been, Ravens Super Bowls, Olympics, Final Four NCAA basketball championships, MLB All-Star game, trip to Venezuela to cover baseball and MLB Spring Training. On the news side, Lloyd has covered presidential Inaugurations, Art Model moving his football team to Baltimore, Amish schoolhouse shooting in Lancaster, PA., West Virginia coal mine explosion, and the Baltimore riots.

He has worked on several projects over the last few years. They include, “Shoot to Kill”, which was a look at Baltimore being one of the more lethal cities in the U.S.; “Collateral Damage”, a look at the impact of violence on children and caregivers in Baltimore; “Shocking Force”, a look at Taser misuse by police in Maryland; “Bridging the Divide”, a story about Baltimore County schools that are becoming more segregated over time.

Before coming to The Sun, Lloyd was a contract photographer for The Philadelphia Inquirer, freelance photographer for United Press International and freelance photographer at The Wilmington News Journal.

Gaithersburg Camera Club
May 15,2018: Field trip to Lonaconing Silk Mill in Allegany County, MD.   June 11, 2018 is our club’s End of Year Banquet.

Harford County Photography Group (HCPG)
Starting in May, HCPG will begin its summer program of field shoots in lieu of its regular monthly indoor meetings. Here is the schedule of the shoots: May 9 – Downtown Havre De Grace, June 13 – Loch Raven Reservoir, July 11 – Port Deposit. These field shoots are open to all Alliance Members. Information will be available on HCPG’s Meetup.com site.

Famed Canadian photographer Freeman Patterson (freemanpatterson.com/biography) will be giving a free presentation in Fairfax, Virginia on Thursday May 3. The topic is “Understanding Creativity.”
