For list: 2017-2018 Officers and Committee Chairs
Committee Chair and Other Reports:
Treasurer: There is a projected profit for the year end with a projected carry over of $2,788 in the operating account and $488 in the Honor Fund. We have 22 new members for a total of 86 members. Last year at this time we had 17 and 78 total members.
PSA: Pete submitted our webpage for a PSA website contest. He will submit our newsletter The Cable Release in a couple of months as well. Pete will ask three volunteers to speak at the next Closer Focus on their perceptions of PSA from a review of the website.
Programming: Renee reported we have speakers and judges through the end of the year. Renee is asking for assistance with finding judges for our portfolio review in an upcoming A Closer Focus night. Pete volunteered to assist.
Field Trips: For the upcoming trip to the Basilica of the National Shrine and the Franciscan Monastery, Andrew and Phil were looking for some help leading the trip with experience of the location. Bob Catlett volunteered.
The question of non-members consistently paying the $10 fee at field trips was raised. Phil and Andrew to be solely responsible for collecting. Michael will look into any fees for Square (uses a credit card reader attachment to phone) to accept payments, and other options.
It was mentioned that a member had FONZ tickets and we might plan a trip to the Zoo at a later date. It was recommended that the trip be scheduled in late March or April. Phil will coordinate the date with Andrew.
Meetup: Sue recommends not to use any formatting in information sent to be added to Meetup. No on-line pictures and only plain text will work in the latest update to Meetup.
We will schedule at a future board meeting to discuss how Meetup affects the future of our club.
Membership: There were updates on lapsed members and most were busy with other things.
Website: We need to pay the Bluehost and domain invoices. We need to figure out how to take out the double line in the MailChimp template in the footer.
The Hunt’s special links are not working when copied now with the update in Mail Chimp. A disclaimer will be added by Catherine when the monthly special is sent out that they are copied and not active.
Competition: Larry has volunteered to fix the light box.
Maryland Photo Alliance: Event on Meetup for two speaker engagement on April 24th. If this event does well, it may cover the cost of next year’s membership. There are now 12 clubs.
Constitution Review: Phil distributed proposed corrections to the Constitution. The Board will review the proposed changes and we will set aside a large block of time in the next agenda for February’s board meeting to discuss and present the changes in March to the membership. Board members who wish to suggest changes/additions should submit them to Phil or Mark before the next board meeting.
Year-End Event: Tanya will begin looking for the judge. Membership is to start looking for door prizes.
Honor Fund and Wider Circle, Cable Release, and Nominations: No reports
Main Topics for Discussion:
Liability Insurance: Catherine presented a quote for Directors insurance. Bruce will look at our projected budget to see how this could be paid for and present findings at the next board meeting.
Membership Anniversary: Catherine will prepare certificates for the Year-End Event for milestone years of membership.
Coverage: Sue will not be present at the February 8th Competition meeting and Phil will cover the membership table that week. Renee will not be present for the February 8th Competition meeting, and Catherine will introduce the judge that evening.
E-blasts: There was discussion of the links not working and creating a new template. Dennis volunteered to investigate fixing the link problem. Mark and Dennis will look into the new template.
Zed’s Coffee House, Projector, and Locking Cabinet – Not discussed.
