Wayne Wolfersberger is an ecologist-naturalist and a nature photographer by education and passion. This integration has resulted in his becoming a well respected photographer in the Washington, D.C. area.
Wayne attended local universities and graduated with degrees in biology and conservation from the University of Maryland and George Mason University. He obtained valuable experience while working for a commercial photographer, at the U.S. Navy Photo Laboratory, and in a brief stint with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Wayne taught biology and earth science in Northern Virginia, Maryland and in the United Kingdom under the Fulbright Program. The use of photography to teach concepts to his classes became second nature to him. During his years of full time teaching, Wayne found time to further expand his photographic skills, which included wedding photography, school groups, and craft shows. After leaving full time teaching, Wayne became an adjunct professor with Virginia Tech and George Mason University, and now has plenty of time for the pursuit of his passion, nature photography.
Wayne also teaches photography classes during the fall, winter and spring which allows for a great deal of traveling to prime locations for nature photography during the summer. Wayne has spent 14 summers working in Yellowstone National Park.
Nature Is Wild Photography is a family run business focusing on the beauty and uniqueness of our natural world, and produce images for the printed media, exhibits and galleries, and private purchase. Basic and nature photography classes, including workshops for the beginner and more advanced students, are available through a variety of offerings such as private or small group instruction. Nature Is Wild Photography offers classes, workshops, presentations, and critiquing year round. Photographic images are exhibited in the Washington, D.C. area.
