Julie Munro is a shy young woman, married to a man crippled in a boating accident.  She lives a simple life in the Maine coastal town of Winter Harbor, tending for her husband and doing piecework, until she meets Stephan Trevor, a young photographer preparing to leave Maine and his past forever.

That chance encounter sets in motion a love affair that requires Julie to make an impossible choice.
