SSCC will usually meet to car-pool for field trips at the Giant grocery store at the intersection of Arliss St. and Flower Ave. in Silver Spring, unless otherwise specified.  The address is 8750 Arliss Street, Silver Spring. 

To get to the Giant, assuming that you are going south on University Blvd E. from the Beltway, the route through the neighborhood is faster and more pleasant than staying on E. University to Piney Branch.  To do this better route, marked in red on the map:

Going south on E. University Blvd, after the Beltway inner loop exit ramp, turn right at the second cross street, E. Franklin Ave.  Travel 0.3 miles, and make a left onto Flower Ave.  Travel 0.7 mile and make a left onto Arliss St.  Travel 0.1 mile and make a right into the large parking lot.

The northern part of the parking lot proves to be the best meeting area (usually empty of other cars), near the entrance on that side, as shown:
