Overview:

On Saturday, May 5, the Annual Kinetic Sculpture Race will be held in Baltimore!  You can leave your acid at home for this trip!  Bizarre street photography—Think “Mardi Gras” without the music!

From the American Visionary Art Museum—a race of wacky, imaginative, totally human-powered works of art, designed to travel on land, through mud, and over deep harbor waters, constructed out of used bicycles, gears, and parts. The machines can be simple, small crafts, piloted by only one brave soul, or they can be over 50 feet long, extremely well-engineered, sophisticated vehicles powered by a team of pilots. The all-day race kicks off at 11 a.m. at American Visionary Art Museum.

At the time of this article’s publication the final details were not quite complete on the website, above.  Check the site again if you plan on going.  It is safe to assume that the race course and obstacles will be the same as in the past 20 years.  Here is last year’s Spectator Guide with course.  The best locations are at Canton Waterfront Park, where we are going, (11:15 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.) and the Patterson Park Obstacle Course (1:15 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.).

Cost:    Free for SSCC members.  The fee for non-member guests is $10.00 payable in cash or check to SSCC.

Lunch: Sabatino’s in Little Italy, 1:30 p.m. or so, 901 Fawn Street
