Breathe ~ An emotive image symbolic of my father’s journey with Emphysema. He stands and fights as the tree, grasping to hold on to this world, struggling to breathe, in the parched arid landscape. The ceiling of his life closing in, as tendrils of the disease slowly wind their way through.

Youniverse ~ Christmas 2019, my studio in London: I have positioned my Mamiya RZ67 on my Cambo stand. My light needs to be very close to my subject and set to full power to get the fastest flash duration. ( only with Elinchrom light!). So I had too much light and ended up using a few ND filter sheets and knock a good 2 stops out. For the next 24 hours the camera, the focal length, the light, the tank, will not move. Using the petri-dish I set up, I go on experimenting with the art of random-mixing any sort of liquid; oil, vinegar or pigment among others, get shaped into an array of New Worlds. transforming everyday household liquids into abstract alien worlds of colours through single or multiple exposures.
MICRO IMAGES OF TEEPEE CANYON AGATE (SERIES) ~ These images are an exploration of the varied and incredible patterns In Tepee Canyon Agate from South Dakota USA using a 10-power microscope objective and focus stacking to gain depth of field. I have always been amazed by the patterns in agate that are not visible to the human eye, when I discovered Micro Photography it opened up an entirely new range of possibilities and discoveries with my photography

City of Depraved Souls ~ A vision based on Italo Calvino’s book, “Invisible Cities.” The proposed series of images follows a thin line of understanding and interpreting the cities described in Calvino’s book. “The book explores imagination and the imaginable through the descriptions of cities by an explorer, Marco Polo…”
Compost ~ I usually collect organic waste (fruit and vegetables) in a bag and then make fertilizer with it. The bag left in the sun on my balcony formed condensation creating this impressionist landscape.

“The winner is this image that I kept coming back to time and again in the selection round. The dynamics of the image, the repetition, and the mystery, are all present. Why is that horse walking there? Are they high up in the mountains? A very beautiful image that would not look out of place in a beautiful frame on a white wall. “ Bastiaan Woudt, judge.
A poetic exploration of femininity: self-discovery, self-acceptance and the opportunity for growth during this crucial period of transformation faced by women when the bloom of youth and the fresh blossom of sexuality is over. © Anastasia Ermolenko.
