International Pillow Fight Day

April 6 – Saturday – 2 PM to 4 PM

Washington Monument, Nat. Mall.   South side of the Monument

Pillow Fight Day is observed in dozens of cities around the world. This year marks the 11th such event in DC. It offers rich opportunities for action photography, but if you carry a pillow, you are fair game for the rest of the crowd. Juggling camera and pillow is not easy – but it has been done, with great hilarity.

Participants are encouraged to wear a funny, feather-proof outfits and to bring garbage bags to help clean up afterwards. The event is open to all ages and is free. For safety reasons, it is asked that you bring a soft pillow.

There are some rules:

• Swing lightly.
• Do not swing at people without pillows.
• Do not swing at people with cameras.
• Soft pillows only!
• Bring a bag to help with clean up after.

If you would like to get involved or organize your own pillow fighting flash mob, more information can be found at:

artofbuilding.org/gallery

The overall Art of Building winner is chosen by both experts and the public.  It is a competition that celebrates buildings and the relationship people have with the built environment. Selected photographs feature in real public installations as the competition transforms construction hoarding into gallery spaces.

Photographer’s Comments:: This picture was taken at Westfield World Trade Center. This spectacular architectural design fascinated me.

Photographer’s Comments: From a normal view, this is just another staircase but by getting on your back and looking right up, you can get a completely unique perspective that leaves the mind wondering what the photo is actually of.
